Something beautiful, born from something hard
This is a brand built around the belief that the objects we surround ourselves with can carry meaning, and that meaning, held gently and returned to often, has the quiet power to change us.
The intention cards at the heart of the collection are not motivational posters. They are not quick fixes or loud affirmations. They are thirty small companions, each one named, each one carrying a single intention, each one asking you to slow down long enough to remember what matters.
They are for the person moving through something hard. For the friend you don't quite know how to reach. For yourself, on a morning when you need a gentle reminder of who you are beneath everything you are carrying.
They are made with care, printed on warm parchment tones, and designed to be kept, gifted, and returned to.
Where it began
Nectar & Notion began not with a business plan, but with a pencil, a quiet room, and a heart that needed somewhere to go.
When my mother became ill, I found myself moving between Singapore and Cape Town, between the life I had built and the person who had shaped me. In the spaces between, the long flights, the waiting rooms, the evenings when worry sat heavy and sleep wouldn't come, I started to draw. Small birds, round and still, carrying tiny botanicals on their bodies like quiet emblems of something I couldn't yet name.
I wasn't trying to build a brand. I was trying to stay present. I was trying to make the waiting mean something.
When my mom passed, those drawings became something more than a way to cope. They became a way to honour what she had taught me, that beauty matters, that small things carry weight, that the intentions we hold in our hearts are worth tending.
One of the characters in the collection is called Josie. She carries the intention of Acceptance. Her name is not a coincidence. My mother's name was Josephine. And Lumi, who carries the intention of Light, bears the nickname my sister had for her. She is woven into this collection in more ways than one.
A little piece of home
Africa is in my bones. I grew up in Zimbabwe, and spent many years in Cape Town, shaped by Southern Africa's colour and light and its particular way of making beauty feel necessary rather than optional. Living in Singapore, I carry all of that with me every day.
When I discovered Hannah Claire Creations, a proudly South African mother-daughter brand making bold, joyful, handcrafted pieces in Cape Town, something in me recognised it immediately. Every item is made by a dedicated team of skilled local women, from locally sourced fabric, with care that shows in every stitch.
I stock a curated selection of their pieces here in Singapore because I believe in what they make, because it brings a piece of home into my store, and because the women behind it deserve to be known far beyond Cape Town.
Made in Singapore, with love that began in Cape Town
Nectar & Notion is a small, independent brand. Everything here is made thoughtfully and in limited quantities. When you buy something from this store, you are not completing a transaction. You are receiving something that was made with intention, for exactly this kind of moment.
Thank you for being here.
